Beside Myself
A play by Jennifer Wynne Webber
Scirocco Press (September 2001)ISBN 1-896239-79-X
In BESIDE MYSELF, Hally, a young theoretical physicist, gives up her old life -- and all solid ground -- when she moves out to live on a sailboat in a small Vancouver marina after the death of her husband, Wade. But her first night aboard the boat, Hally discovers Wade is still there with her -- and in more ways than one. Ever the scientist, Hally tries to probe her surprising dilemma with wit and intellectual gymnastics. But as Wade gently calls her back to her heart, he ends up proving there really is more than one way to shed light on the mysteries of the universe -- and that nothing beats traveling at the speed of love. A moving look at life, love, and the mysteries of light.
BESIDE MYSELF premiered as an Actor's Equity Co-op in January 2000, with the support of 25th Street Theatre, before going on to launch the 2000-2001 season at Saskatchewan's Dancing Sky Theatre. In 2001, it was published by Scirocco Drama, an imprint of J. Gordon Shillingford Publishing Inc. In 2002, BESIDE MYSELF was produced at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C.
